Red Sponge
This species of sponge grows up and out like the branches of a tree. Although it may look like a plant, it is actually an animal. Sponges are filter feeders. They feed on microscopic plankton they capture as they move water through the pores of their soft bodies. Sponges are common on reefs throughout the world. The are found in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and colors.
