Egyptian Sea Star
The Egyptian sea star (Gomophia egyptiaca) is a species of starfish native to the Indian ocean. It inhabits coral reefs in the Red Sea and off the coasts of eastern Africa and Madagascar. It is commonly found at depths of up to 25 feet (8 meters). This unusual species is characterized by the many sharp spikes covering its surface and can be found in a range of colors including shades of orange and red. It is omnivorous, feeding on algae and a range of slow moving organisms including snails, sponges, and algae.
