Clownfish in Anemone

This pink skunk clownfish (Amphiprion perideraion) has taken refuge inside the stinging tentacles of a sea anemone. Clownfish and other anemonefish are able to develop an immunity to the poisonous, stinging cells of the anemone. They form a symbiotic, mutualistic bond with the anemone. The anemone provides protection for the clownfish, and the clownfish in turn helps to protect the anemone from predators and parasites. Sometimes several clownfish will make their home in the same anemone.
