Columbia Hills on Mars
This image shows a range of hills in the distance nicknamed the Columbia Hills. It was taken by the Mars exploration rover Spirit. In this image, the hills are Spirit's next destination. The rover faces a rocky road as it makes its way toward the hills to begin its next phase of exploration. much of the surface of Mars is littered with rocks and boulders, most of which are probably debris left over from the many meteor impacts which have occurred all over the planet.
