ISS Moonrise

This image shows a view of a nearly full Moon photographed by one of the crewmembers aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for Expedition Five. The moon can be seen in the image bathed in the blue glow of the Earth's atmosphere. The ISS crew gets to see several sunrises and moonrises each day because the space station make one complete orbit around the Earth about every 90 minutes. Both objects can create spectacular colors and patterns as they pass through the different layers of the atmosphere.
