Vase Sponge
This vase sponge is home for a small shrimp. Sponges are actually the simplest multicellular creatures on Earth. Their primitive bodies have no organs and they spend their entire life attached to the same place. There are about 10,000 species of sponges found throughout the world's oceans. Sponges provide shelter to a wide range of sea creatures. A small, red shrimp has made a home inside this sponge. This image was captured by Dr. Anthony R. Picciolo from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
