Lace Coral

This beautiful lace coral was found in the waters off the coast of Micronesia. Lace corals are a type of hard, stony coral that form ornate tree-like structures. They are common on most coral reefs around the world. These fan-like corals are known for their bright colors, which can include violet, red, orange, and yellow. Lace corals differ from most other hard corals in that the color is deposited inside the actual limestone skeleton. This means the color will remain even after the coral polyps are gone.
