Troughton's Sea Star
The Troughton's sea star (Pseudonepanthia troughtoni) is a species of starfish that is native to the waters off the coast of southern Australia. This image was captured by underwater photographer Peter Southwood on the east side of Pearson Island in South Australia. This species is white or light in color and typically is found with five arms. Its upper surface is characterized by pitted indentations that give it a rough appearance. It feeds on algae and detritus.
